Honey and saffron dry fruit shrikhand

Shrikhand is an all-time favorite dessert and it can be a real treat on a festive occasion. But many people try to stay away from shrikhand as it is loaded with sugar. But here is a healthy shrikhand recipe that does not have sugar.

 Cooking Time : 45 minutes

  • 1 kg yogurt (preferably choose low-fat yogurt but if you want you can choose normal yogurt)
  • 6 tablespoons of Jamun Honey
  • Saffron
  • Cashew nuts, almonds and pistachio and raisins
  • Cardamon powder

First, take a clean cheesecloth and put all the yogurt in it. Now tie the open edges of the cloth and tie it on a tap or a stick and let all the water from yogurt get collected in a bowl. You need to keep this yogurt in this way for 4 hours.

Soak almonds in water for 4 hours.

Do not throw the water that is collected in the bowl. You can drink it by adding a bit of salt or you can also use it to knead whole wheat flour dough.

Now coming back to the recipe remove the yogurt from the cloth and transfer it to a bowl. Take a little warm water and add a few saffron strands to the water. Remove the skin of the soaked almonds and chop them. Also, chop the cashew nuts and pistachios.

To the yogurt add the Jamun honey. Instead of Jamun honey, you can also add any other pure honey. Mix yogurt and honey nicely. Next add the almonds, pistachios and cashew nuts also add the saffron and the water in which you have soaked the saffron. Mix well. No finally add the cardamon powder and again mix well.

Place the bowl in the fridge for 1 to 2 hours. Your healthy dry fruit-rich shrikhand is ready and you can serve it with chappati or one can have it simply like a dessert after meals.

Instead of dry fruits you can add fruits like fresh strawberries or bananas etc and make a healthy mix-fruit shrikhand.
